"Forging the very special connection with Maestro Guzman has always been very beneficial and has kind of shaped this new piece I've written for the orchestra," says North Texas-based composer @quinnmasoncomposer. Guzman will lead the @planosymphony in the commissioned world premiere of Mason's "Shine Time" in a program that also includes the internationally acclaimed @tambuco_percussionensemble. Terri Thornton, artist and longtime curator of edu

Terri Thornton, artist and longtime curator of education at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (@themodernfw), has died.

The 66-year-old passed away peacefully in her home on Dec. 17, according to a post from her family. Subsequent posts from the museum and her peers received an outpouring of support from artists in Fort Worth and beyond.

Hundreds of artists and community members alike shared messages praising the wife and mother as a beautiful soul and “badass” with a strong Texas accent and radiant smile.

Perlman, universally recognized as one of the world’s greatest classical violinists, has also devoted himself to serious study of traditional Jewish music. Maestro Ricardo Muti will lead the orchestra in a sparkling program of waltzes, polkas, and a variety of other Viennese bon bons. Held in the Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein, the evening will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss II’s birth.
